Buying something made here means you're part of a community. That's the real reason it matters to me; you're supporting your own environment and the people around you.
For over 20 years, every piece has been conceived, crafted and assembled right here in Aotearoa/New Zealand, from our workshop in Whakatū, Hawke's Bay. We use responsible materials and a philosophy of care for people and planet that's been there from the start.

Certified B Corporation
Being a Certified B Corporation means David Trubridge Ltd has been independently verified against B Lab's rigorous standards for social and environmental performance, made a legal commitment to stakeholder governance, and is publicly accountable through a transparent B Corp profile.
Every B Corp is assessed across five impact areas: how we care for our workers, how we prioritise the environment, the positive impact we have on our customers, how our governance considers all stakeholders, and how we give back to our community.

Independently Verified Sustainability
It's always been part of my ethos. Even making things by hand as a craftsperson, I couldn't bear to waste a plank — I'd rather spend hours getting more pieces out of one length of timber than cut it quickly and use more wood. I love the wild places too much to let this business cost the earth for the sake of it.
Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a key tool for quantifying the footprint of our products, and we use it to influence key design and business decisions — it's what led us to convert the vast majority of our range to flat-pack designs, reducing the environmental impact of packaging and distribution. Our Environmental Product Declaration is a further expression of that commitment. Independently verified in accordance with ISO 14025 and EN 15804, it quantifies the full life-cycle environmental impact of our pendant lighting range, from raw material sourcing through manufacturing, transport, use and end-of-life — giving architects and specifiers transparent, third-party-verified data to support sustainable building and design decisions. in 2026, we published the third edition of our EPD (first edition 2015, second edition 2020).

We were the first Australasian company to offer Environmental Product Declarations for our designs.

FSC-certified birch and sustainably grown bamboo, chosen and re-evaluated through ongoing life cycle analysis.
Renewable Energy
Our electricity is purchased from a 100% renewable generator, and our company vehicles are electric.
